Since the commencement of the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016 on 29th April 2016, the national vetting unit of An Garda Síochána (known before the Act as the Garda Central Vetting Unit) is now known as the National Vetting Bureau.
The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016: -
The National Vetting Bureau is the single point of contact in An Garda Síochána to conduct Garda Vetting. Its primary objective is to provide an accurate and responsible vetting service which enhances the protection of children and vulnerable persons through enabling safer recruitment decisions. Garda vetting is conducted on behalf of registered organisations only; and is not conducted for individual persons on a personal basis. If you are seeking employment or intending to volunteer with an organisation which conducts relevant work, you may be asked to make an application to be vetted.
